The Showdown - Great Lakes Grand Nationals is our showcase event of the season and is returning to downtown Detroit which has added multiple new hotels, casinos, and restaurants near the Cobo Center. With over 200 cheer and dance teams and 100 specialty performances at last years the 2008 event you will get to compete against the best of the best in the North in 2009. We leave nothing off limits for this event.  From huge parades to 100's of giveaways. We make sure something is happening every minute of the day.  Our goal is to make it hard to choose what wild crazy thing you want to do next. The Showdown will feature multiple stages with curtained stages running simultaneously including a special area just for solos/duets/trios, stunt and tumble groups. We are even bringing a full inflatable bounce zone! 
             
From wild crazy action on the stages to tons of fun off stage, this event will be like none other you have been to.

The action does not stop with all the amazing cheerleading and dance performances where we will bring out the big show to ensure that your athletes are the stars of the event. We will get them involved in every aspect of the show.  The athletes at our events not only get to participate in the games and activities but they run them.  From playing Deal or No Deal ^TM on stage to helping us decide who wins the coaches relay races, the athletes that attend our events are part of the event every step of the way. Nothing is more exciting for parents attending our events than seeing their kids in the spotlight and we look for every opportunity to make sure they are in it as much as possible all day.

Full Paid and At Large bids To Cheer Worlds This year one FULL PAID bid will be given to one Senior All Girl team and one FULL PAID bid Senior Co-Ed team eligible to compete at the Cheerleading Worlds. Plus we will designate: One bid to the Open Level 6 Division One bid for the Junior Level 5 Divisions Overall 10 Bids will be given to Senior and International divisions at this event For more information about Worlds click here.

Partial Bids to Dance Worlds For dance teams we are awarding a total of 3 bids to the Dance Worlds in Orlando Bids Include: One Partial Paid bid 2 At Large Bids to the Dance Worlds in Orlando Florida High School Varsity, All Star Senior, and Studio Senior teams are eligible to win. NEW AN EXCITING FOR 2008-2009
GLCC Best Dance Crews - GLCC has been known as an innovator in getting the spectators into the action and we have expanded on the coolest new craze to hit MTV TM.  Throughout the 2008-2009 season athletes can now form 5-7 member Dance Crews and exhibition at our events showing off their best Urban Freestyle dance moves. At the showdown the crowd favorites at each GLCC event are invited to compete against each other at NO CHARGE.  Our judges will critique each crew LIVE and after all the crews perform we then open up our text message voting system to all the spectators at Cobo Hall to vote and decide who will become the Overall GLCC’s Best Dance Crew of 2008-2009!  The winning Dance Crew will win 100’s of dollars in merchandise and more!  The preliminary round and voting will occur Saturday with the top 50% of the teams with the highest votes moving on to the final round on day two!

Expanded TOP DAWG Store and gift opportunities - GLCC pioneered the TOP DAWG store last year where National Champions could shop for the prize that they wanted to take home in recognition of their victory.  This year we are allowing everyone to shop at all events!  All athletes will be given points for participating and will always get to shop at the store for a gift. For teams that place in the top three positions of each division we will award additional points that the athletes can use to upgrade to larger gifts.  The points can be accumulated from event to event so that if you attend multiple GLCC events you can wait and shop a later event and purchase even larger gifts by accumulating your winnings throughout the year.  The selection will be expanded also with more types of prizes to choose including towels, blankets, hats, more jackets, scarf’s, jewelry, custom medals, custom event wear, and etc.

TOP DAWG Spirit Awards and Themes - Each year more and more teams are getting into our event themes so we have decided to expand our recognition of the teams that show great spirit and energy.  Our TOP DAWG Mascot will greet each the team and their supporters in the GLCC DAWG POUND with a special TOP DAWG SPIRIT AWARD at every awards ceremony and celebrate the excitement they have contributed to making the event funs for everyone!  

Coaches!!! Remind your teams!!! We expect to see lots of love for this event. The theme for this event is St. Pattys Celebration and we want to see every athlete and dancer for this event totally decked out. The winner of each session spirit award will receive a gift certificate for Spirit Innovations. We have a huge bonus for the Gym/School/Studio who wins the Grand Spirit Award at this event. 25 athletes/dancers from the organization that wins will receive a full cheer/dance make-up kit from Bling Spirit Makeup!!! Plus your gym/studio/school will win a huge trophy. 100's of special prizes given out all day!
